Today Valve released a Beta version of SteamVR for Linux, enabling a new platform for the HTC Vive VR headset.
Last week we released VR Desktop for Mac, the first major VR application dedicated for macOS. The biggest limitation in creating this app was that the only VR headset with Mac support is the Oculus DK2.
But a few months ago, Valve developer Joe Ludwig announced that “We’re actively working on SteamVR support for both OSX and Linux and we hope to get support for both of them into a beta in the next few months.”. A few months later, and SteamVR for Linux is now released. This is extremely exciting news for Mac users, as it means that HTC Vive support for macOS is now imminent.
At Cindori, we are big believers in VR and of Mac as a VR platform. We are looking forward to be able to offer VR Desktop for HTC Vive users very soon.
