Sadly, no. The application crashes for me during launch still. Some information:

Does it say Beta 4 in About? Because it’s the same error my friend experienced, and that I fixed. Perhaps it occurs in more places with different disk setups. Will need to wait for more input.

Try download again, you might have gotten wrong version because I uploaded the app slightly after posting.

PS. Don’t post full crash logs, like rantom did is enough 🙂

Yes, Beta4 as in the crashlog. Re-downloaded it now, didn’t help.

    I’m experience similar issues too

// Shorten the logs a bit

    Same than ranton.
    I got similar report.

People with crash, try this one:

I’m happy to report that with that I got the TRIM enabled. The TRIM Enabler launched as it should, I enabled the support and re-launched the program to confirm it was enabled. Since the TRIM was not yet detected and I was told to try rebooting, I did just that and then all was good.

    Thanks a ton. 🙂

      Thank YOU for testing.
I’ll replace the Beta 4 link with that test pkg.
Now the goal is to get rid of the update button / having to reopen the app to get updates.

Is there a different link or something wrong with server? 404 error

  10. Horkonpon 8 years ago

Fully working in a Macmini (late 2009 with OS X 10.6.8) and OCZ Vertex 3 90 GB

Thank you for a great job.

Could you also try to fix the misalignment of the opened window? It’s not positioned to the center of the screen nor does it memorize where it was before closing. See this.

I removed the TrimEnablerTest and put it on original link in the post instead!

just crashing, can’t open it. Same problem with all other betas:

    MBP Late 2009
    Intel SSD 320 160GB
    Mac OS X 10.6.8.

  14. Wolfgang 8 years ago

    …empty window – no information.
    beta 1,2,3 and 4 🙁

    (3 Corsair inside..)

  15. Cindori 8 years ago

Those that still have crash, post the first part of the crash log (as much as rantom did)

Wolfgang, what do you mean with no information? under S.M.A.R.T? Because that feature doesnt support all drives atm.

  16. Jose 8 years ago

While now Trim Enabler 2.0 Beta 4 doesn’t crash it didn’t change TRIM to YES.
Actually it shows me a sentence “The patch is active but I can’t find any SSD. If you have one, ignore me, I’m not really Siri-standard yet”.
That computer has a Kingston SNV425S2128GB as a boot up disk.
What can I do to enable the command TRIM?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes!
    No entrys –

    Drive Modell – –
    Model Family – –
    Firmware Version – –
    SMART Support – –
    etc. etc.

I like to send screenshots – – how?

If Trim Enabler can’t find your SSD, it is not a big deal. It just means you manually have to check that Trim is Enabled, under System Information and select your disk.
After the patch is applied you have to reboot.

Yeah as I said, all drives are not supported for the S.M.A.R.T info yet, so that might be the issue. It does not affect Trim at all.
I’ll see if I can add support for you next version. I have exams next week, after that I got loads of time to work on this.

    Hi Cindori,
Thanks for reading and answering my message.
I already reboot but under System Profiler > Serial-ATA > Kingston SNV425S2128GB the TRIM Support declaration continue saying “No”.

  20. Wolfgang 8 years ago

    …ok, thank you Cindori.

    Good luck next week :-))

Have you checked if you have the latest firmware for your SSD?

You can also try running in terminal:

    sudo chown root:admin /
    sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
    sudo kextcache -system-caches

    and reboot.

Beta 4 works perfectly for me! Thank you very my Cindori! When I get paid a donation will be coming your way 🙂

  23. Jose 8 years ago

    Hi Cidori,
Unfortunately the administrator pass in that computer is no key at all. I mean, no “a”, no “1234”, nothing.
Terminal ask me to write the password to allow me to let apply your command. As that admin has no pass Terminal did not accept such empty option. So I could not follow your instruction in Terminal.

About the firmware of my SSD. it is the D100309a version that I believe was one of the latest.

May be I need to forget to force TRIM in such computer.
    Any way, thanks Cindori.

I’m sorry but I have the same problem as I posed before (http://www.cindori.org/?p=522#comment-4529)

However I can’t disable it, the GUI appears to carry out the disable but when I restart it’s back to enabled again :(. And now my mac keeps locking up. Any thoughts please ?

  25. Cindori 8 years ago

This software only unlocks apples trim support, I can’t guarantee it will perform well for everyone. If it doesnt work well for you, all you can do is disable and live without Trim.

Hi Cindori, cheers for the direct reply. I understand that and it’s great that you make this software anyway :). So cheers for that.

However the GUI in beta 4 doesn’t appear to work when turning TRIM support off. Anyone else have that problem ?

All 2.0 versions will patch your existing, not install a new one.

Just writing to let you know that I have tested each updated release since the original and all have been working quite well! There are always bugs, but the end result is that TRIM is always enabled! Thank you for all of your hard work!

I think I know the cause; see Trim Enabler backs up your original when enabling. When disabling, it restores that backup.
So if you would have Trim Enabled with previous versions, then enable using this tool, your patched driver would be backed up, and then when you disable the patched driver is put back. You end up in a loop where you have no un-patched driver to restore.

That’s why I put a guide in the original 2.0 post a page down, to restore original from Recovery HD.

It’s a tricky problem, I’ll see if I can find a solution to it. Perhaps make a script that gets your original from Recovery HD automatically, to ensure it’s not patched.

Should i use trim enabler for OCZ Vertex 3 drive?

  32. matt 8 years ago

Working well with 10.7.2 and my 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD. Thanks!

  33. Pelle Wessman 8 years ago

This got my Trim working again on OS X 10.7.2 with my Intel X25-M. Thanks a lot for this tool! Decided to, like two others, show my appreciation by sending you some money on Flattr which you can claim through your Twitter account: https://flattr.com/wizard/claim/id/448924

    I can confirm v2b4 is turning TRIM ON with a Crucial M4 256GB SSD inside a 2009 MBP17 (SATA2) with Lion 10.7.2.

The SMART Data panel is not working correctly, however.
No crashes and the status is correct.

  35. matt 8 years ago

I have switched off TRIM under 10.7.2 on my 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD.

I was getting beach balls from time to time, where all apps were not responsive for 10-15 seconds but the mouse was fine. This was after a secure erase and restore from backup, too. Without TRIM there are no such freezes and I am happy.

Note: with this (and some other) drives that use a Sandforce controller, I understand that TRIM is not as necessary?

  36. matt 8 years ago

In response to some queries about my above comment: if you cannot use Trim Enabler to *disable* the trim patch, then reinstalling the latest OS X update (10.7.2 at the time of writing) will have the same effect.

When I start up beta 4, all that happens is the window comes up and then the spinning wheel of death appears.

I am running successfully on a MacBook Pro Early 2011, with a Samsung 830 (240). I have 2 questions: 1) how do I know I have the latest version (i did this about 4 weeks ago)? 2) I just deleted about 70gb off the drive. Am I fragged now and do I turn TRIM off, restart and turn it back on?

Thanks, trying to get my head around this.

  41. müzso 8 years ago

    Hi!

I’ve tried Trim Enabled v2.0 (Beta 4). Simply running it, flipping the switch to “On” and rebooting didn’t do it. After the reboot TRIM support was still not working.
Running the suggested “kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel” and “kextcache -system-caches” commands and rebooting did work. 🙂
    Thanks for your efforts Oskar!

    Best regards,
    Zsolt

PS: my Mac is a 2006 MacBook Pro (model ID: MacBookPro2,2) with Mac OS X 10.6.8 and a Kingston SNVP325-S2/256GB SSD.

Under 10.6.8 Beta 5 crashes whenever I run it.
Will this run under snow leopard? or just Lion?

  45. Excellent blog post. Extremely fascinating.
I’ve got a couple of beauty tips that appear to work well for me, it is something everybody can accomplish. Just remember to drink the right amount of water, this can help to remove toxins from your body and also skin. Getting the right amount of sleep at night is also a great platform for healthy skin care for the reason that whilst sleeping your skin will renew all the dead skin cells. In addition, I make certain that I do not go in the sun too often and this seems to work well for me.
