Mountain Lion and Trim Enabler

Mountain Lion and Trim Enabler
July 25, 2012 Oskar

… seems to work fine. Just as it did in Dev. Preview 1-4.

Update: You might need to change your Security settings to allow software outside of App Store to be installed. Thanks to Ron for this tip

    Huzzah!!!!!

Well done! Upgraded to 10.8 grabbed new T.E., reboot and all is working.

All this on an early 2008 Macbook Pro that wasn’t even supposed to work with M.L. Guess there’s some early ones that are 4,1 hardware.

However, because you chose such a cool image for the announcement: WHERE can I find a good background image for Mountain Lion with an actual cougar, you know, a *mountain lion*! Why did Apple break that “tradition”?

That leaping one, sans the stethoscope would be great! 🙂

    Hi,
    can’t agree with it.
Installed Mac OS Mountain Lion on my iMAC (mid 2011) yesterday, no upgrade a complete new installation.
No Trim Enabler Version 2.2 told me
that my Crucial C300 256GB SSD is perhaps not supported?
And in System Preferences Trim is disabled for this drive?

    Cheers

Trim Enabler will not work under Mountain Lion! I get the developer check block.

Same here… not working, early 2011 model. Prompts for password but nothing ever happens. Rebooted, updated, still nothing.

Sorry, new to Mountain Lion. Was able to downgrade new built in security and was able to run Trim Enabler. After rebooting it is working perfectly! Thanks!! Late 2008 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and OCZ Agility 3 480GB drive.

I thought it was Trim Enabler, but have now discovered that it’s an issue with my OCZ drive with an Indilinx controller not being compatible with Mountain Lion. OCZ are working on it, but it might be some time.
    Info on the ocztechnologyforum.com forums.

To run Trim Enabler under Mountain Lion, you do not have to change your security settings! An easier and safer way is to hold the “Control” key, mouse click on the Trim Enabler app and then choose “open”. This way you can run unsigned (potentially unsafe) apps without having to switch off the security features of Mountain Lion in general.

Thank you so much. MT Lion on 2011 MBP 17 with Samsung 840 Pro 256GB works. Hold “control” key and mouse click on the Trim Enabler app and then choose “open”.

  10. Steffen 7 years ago

Well, actually you can just “right click” on the app and then choose “Open” to override GateKeeper 🙂

Trim Enabler confirmed working on Crucial M4 SSD 512GB in a Mac Pro 3.2GHz 2012 with Mountain Lion.

I also have a C300 drive in a laptop that’s still on Lion. I’d be interested to hear if anyone gets TE working on that drive. I’ve no intention of upgrading that laptop to ML yet, though. But I hadn’t considered it wouldn’t work as the M4 worked fine.

Confirmed working on Samsung 830 64gb on Early 2011 Macbook Pro

Not working on early 2011 Macbook Pro with Crucial M4 SSD 256

MacBook Pro mid 2010 (6,1), Crucial M4 512GB and Lion. TE displays TRIM enabled but not supported by the hard disk. How is it possible to switch off TRIM again, the slider is not reacting? Can anybody tell weather the crucial M4 is supporting TRIM? In the ted. spec. if the drive nothing is to be found.
    Thanks for assistance.

Guys, don’t use this app. See the following page for the reason, and for instructions how to do it without potentially harming your system:

That issue has long since been adressed. Trim Enabler 2.0 and later uses a different patching technique, patching the driver directly instead of installing a pre-patched one. It is actually much safer using Trim Enabler then running a terminal script, because Trim Enabler features error handling while the terminal method simply edits your driver, regardless if it breaks it or not. /Oskar

Not working on Mountain Lion with a 512 GB Samsung SSD 830 on 2011 MacBook Pro. Did work under Lion before the upgrade. Clicking slider causes spinning pinwheel for a few seconds, the slider goes gray, then the slider redraws in color and stays stuck on off. System info confirms that TRIM support is not enabled. Reboot does not help.

I have been using Mountain Lion for some days and of course I have already deleted some data. Do I need to re-install the OS and then activate “Trim enabler” or simply install it and it will take care of the already deleted data?

    Best regards

Seems to work on the Mid-2012 13″ MBP running Mountain Lion with an OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD.

Required a reset after but fine otherwise.

    Thanks!

Works perfectly!!!! (But it’s a bit slow emptying the trash)

OSX 10.8.2 (12C60) seems to have broken Trim Enabler. This definitely worked before the update.

    Mid-2010 17″ MBP
    Crucial M4 512GB

    Thanks and appreciate any advice

  22. Ben 7 years ago

Ditto #22, 10.8.2 seems to have borked it. I get the behavior click on slider, password prompt, beachball, redraw slider, still off that others have seen. Crucial M4 256MB. Late 2011 15″.

Hm. well this seems to work on my mid-2012 MBP 2.6 i7 with a OCZ Vertex3 480GB, after a restart.

Although the Finder crashed after restart and the About this Mac window is slow to open. So I’ll keep a close eye on any performance issues.

I wonder outloud, is it possible that TrimEnabler can cause irreversible damage?

Not working on 10.8 here either 🙁 10.7 was all good.

I do agree with all the ideas you have introduced for your post.
They are really convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are too quick
for beginners. May you please lengthen them a little from
next time? Thank you for the post.

For those of you on OS X 10.8.2 and Trim Enabler v2.2 and with the SSD installed into the Superdrive bay: if you get the message saying that the patch is active but trim is not working, just reboot, and see if that fixes it. It did for me.

I think that what you said made a great deal of sense.
But, what about this? what if you added a little content? I am not suggesting your content
is not good., but suppose you added a title to possibly grab a person’s attention?
I mean cindori.org is kinda plain. You could glance at Yahoo’s front page and see how they
write news titles to get people to open the links.
You might try adding a video or a picture or two to get readers
interested about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it would bring your posts a
    little livelier.
